I’ve planned to leave Canada for years. Planning a move is never easy and takes time. I’ve learned in life that it is best not to make rash decisions. Some of the reasons why I am leaving are in the video which I posted on my channel below 👇
I have no idea if it will be temporary or not. That all depends on what happens in Canada. Things would have to dramatically shift for me to see a life in Canada again. I don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel for Canada and that makes it very hard to live in a place that you know is becoming more and more miserable and where the standard of living is falling.
I am sad about leaving and I think one of the reasons I held out so long was I was even hoping things would improve. We plan to leave in the fall of 2024. We will sell what we can and give away the rest.
I want to talk about Pierre. Pierre will be good for Canada but I think people have placed far too much hope on him and this is a result of his campaign. Danielle Smith was a massive disappointment in my eyes. She has pushed the cost of living up drastically in Alberta and nobody asked her to extend an invitation to the rest of Canada using taxpayer money and people are p*ssed about it. How is a more progressive conservative going to be any better?
Politicians only care about being elected. Pierre is a populist.
Let me just define that as most people are unaware of what populism even is: a political approach that strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are disregarded by established elite groups.
It’s an approach where a decade-long politician appears to be a normal average person. Pierre is a politician. He is not a normal Canadian like me or you!
I hope he wins. I think he will win the next election. However, it is a case of picking the least worst option when it comes to politics.
I know for one it doesn’t matter what Pierre does he can do no wrong in some people’s eyes. I have followed Pierre for a long time almost 5 years. He has changed so much that I don’t even recognize him anymore.
I think the problem is obvious in Canada. The confederation doesn’t work unless provinces have much more autonomy. Provinces should have a veto right on any federal law. Diverging political views is one reason for that. The country is so large and diverse socially, economically, and politically that they need more autonomy I think the confederation is doomed to fail. Quebec will probably be the first to go. Followed by Alberta. That could take decades. There are a few great books that offer undeniable evidence we are drifting toward that slowly.
So moving into 2024. I am sad. I am nervous. I am excited.
I will always be here. I will always be fighting for freedom and putting the truth out there about what is happening in Canada.
I went through so many 'aspects', over 10 years ago, before the current 'group' in government, I was part of
International Living, a wonderful site featuring many countries that people on fairly low income could
retire to. I looked into all of that.
I remember a couple on very low income who managed Malaysia right on the water, the house being up
on stilts, having a small boat. It was so beautiful, peaceful, and more.
Lots on Mexico, which had a lot going for it.
It would take me most of my life to come to 'there's no place like home'. But then, we're at 'end of life',
not mid life, so very different, for sure.
Still, for years, I thought there was better...'out there'.
And for some, yes, it might be better...out there.
I see it, of course. And I concur with the writers, AT THIS time. I'm not sure what we have now will remain.
Drug city, zombie row, homeless and still 'entitled'. (some, not all).
I'm a firm believer in 'giving back', but so many ways to do it. Maybe take care of yourself, be upbeat,
encourage others along the way. Maybe make your small area look nice, as if you cared.
It amazes me, how getting upward now to 80!! Hard to believe. That it took that long to come to it that
we BELONG here. We were BORN here, raised here, live here. We KNOW it. And yes, I approve of
a great deal.
Governments will change, and I actually have just the GREATEST faith in some Canadians to bring
innovations here. They're already doing it, but this will increase once we get rid of the 'thorn',
or is it 'thorns'?
Maybe you know this, but International Living said that once you decided on a place to live,
get about 6 months off, and GO LIVE THERE. They explained that a lot is hidden from us,
and you don't even see it temporarily renting there for 6 months. But you get some ideas,
some things. Often you're moving to where English is not the #! language, and you're an extreme
minority. Gotta SEE how that is.
After ALL those years of traveling 2x a year, I've seen the videos which of course I know in ways very
well, but not how it's changed. We've come to 'it's easier at home'.
On another concluding note: I would NEVER stay in Canada if I ever intended on having a family of any kind
or if I had a young family. Never. That would be my tipping point. But since that's not the case for us,
we will develop things here.
Question? What's your attitude about 'expats', and about associating with those groups?
Generally, wherever you go today, you'll find 'expats'.
And, I further would like to mention that for us, 'multiculturalism' is great. Not THAT many of any group here.
And, they've always been friendly, polite. But they only know their circle, and we're not in it.
Which is fine with us.
I've never been up on politics, but had to since 'the debacle began' . I thought Daniella was handling horrific pressures
and I'm just not sure who could do better. We don't live in Alberta, and I feel good about that.
Finally, (how many times must I say finally?), do you meditate or pray? By that, I don't mean 'sky daddy'
but immersion prayer or immersion meditation.
These are exciting venues to pursue.
Best to you, and to all here. That we chart our course.
Good luck. I left already and it's a breath of fresh air
